ART & ARCHITECTURE ALONG BUFFALO BAYOU
Don't forget a camera -- there are ducks, flowers, trees, and magnificent skyline views you'll want to remember.

For Strollers.  This stroll starts with the George Bush Monument in Sesquicentennial Park, where there is a spectacular view of the downtown skyline, then continues westward at bayou level to Sam Houston Park.  Along the way you may spot some ducks, canoes, or the Buffalo Bayou Partnership's pontoon boat, the Bayou Breeze.  Inside Sam Houston Park, we'll walk by the Pillot House (1863), the San Felipe Cottage (1863), the Staiti House (1905), the Jack Yates House (1870), and Neuhaus Park before taking a rest stop inside the Heritage Society Museum.  We'll return to Landry's Downtown Aquarium via the bayou walking path running behind the Hobby Center.  Fee: $20/person for a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 25.

For Active Walkers: Stroll through Sesquicentennial Park, admiring two waterfalls and Mel Chin's Seven Wonders, then over bayou bridges to the Spaghetti Warehouse.  Continue to Allen's Landing Park, then up the Main Street Viaduct for a spectacular view of the downtown skyline from the University of Houston-Downtown's plaza.  Walk down stairs to the bayou path, then continue westward back to Sesquicentennial Park.  Along the way you'll see the Allen Brothers' ad that brought the world to Houston, a condo with floor-to-ceiling glass windows overlooking the bayou, and a crypt dating from the 1840s.  Fee: $20/person for a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 25.
